Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
In ten days we will once again begin the Church’s annual 40 day retreat of Lent. It is a holy season, marked by sacrifice and self-denial. In this spirit the Bishop asks the Catholic faithful of the diocese to make personal financial sacrifices by contributing to the Annual Lenten Appeal. Our parish assessment this year is $106,400. Last year we faced the challenge of responding to this annual appeal while we began our capital campaign, which has been very successful. We fell short of our 2017-2018 Lenten appeal assessment by about $7,000. The parish is responsible for making up any shortfall, but if we surpass our goal that amount will, as always, be refunded to the parish. For this year, all I ask is that you prayerfully consider your Lenten Appeal pledge. I thank you in advance for your generous response and I thank God for the goodness he continues to show to our parish.
