This week, St. Paul reminds the Corinthians that they “have been sanctified in Christ, Jesus,” and “called to be holy.” We know we should be seeking holiness in our lives, but so often holiness escapes us. Usually, we succumb to complacency or convince ourselves we are lost causes. The truth is we can never change the past, but we can put forth our best efforts, with God’s grace, to make changes going forward. If we stand up each day, and resolutely commit ourselves to doing our Lord’s will, Jesus will do his part. He is the Lamb of God, who takes away the sins of the world. He will always be there to offer us his mercy and the strength we need to faithfully build up his kingdom in our midst.
