Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
Last Thursday morning at the 7 AM Mass, I noticed two men who were obviously not from the area. I spoke to them and learned that they were missionaries with the Neo-catechumenal Way, a lay Catholic movement that is very popular in other parts of the world. They explained that 800 missionaries arrived in Washington, DC on July 16 and were sent two by two to a particular diocese to walk and preach the Good News of God’s love for one week with very little in their backpacks. Their faith along with their simple message that God loves me was very moving.
This week St. Paul tells us, “all things work for those who love God.” We know that we are called to love God with all our hearts, minds and souls, but sometimes this is difficult especially when we don’t feel loved. When things don’t seem to be working out the way we would like, it is easy to become discouraged. It is at those moments when simple reminders of how precious we are in God’s eyes can help to lift our spirits and set us back on the right path.
