Sunday of The Word of God
Third Sunday in Ordinary Time January 24, 2021 Recalling the importance placed on the Word of God at the Second Vatican Council, Pope Francis has established the Third Sunday of Ordinary Time as “The Sunday of the Word of God.” Having completed the Christmas season and the celebration of the “Word Becoming Flesh” in the mystery of the Incarnation, the Church is now invited to rejoice in ongoing presence of Jesus in the Bible, the “Book of the Lord’s people, who, in listening to it, move from dispersion towards unity.” (Aperuit illis, #4) Pope Francis expresses the hope that “The life of our people be constantly marked by this relationship with the living word that the Lord never tires of speaking to his Bride, that she may grow in love and perfect witness.” (Aperuit illis, #2) |
